How will Tabor Design Build design
and build my project?
At Tabor Design Build, we provide our customers with a stress-free remodeling experience. We assume responsibility for your entire project, from design concepts to finished home. We strive to make the entire process enjoyable for you.
INITIAL CONSULTATION
During our initial phone consultation, we ask a lot of questions and listen very carefully to your answers. We discuss your project and our processes to make sure we are a good match to work together. We may ask you to send us rough sketches of your remodeling ideas, along with a copy of your land survey, so that we can get an idea of what is involved in your project. If it is mutually agreeable, a meeting is scheduled to view the area of the proposed project.
At this meeting, we will discuss the project feasibility, develop a list of your remodeling priorities, explain our interactive design-build process, and answer any questions you may have. We will ask a lot of questions to develop a complete understanding of your goals and priorities. We will also need to see the area of the proposed project, including the adjacent rooms, as well as the spaces above and below your project. A realistic investment range is set. This number is based on John Tabor's almost 30 years of experience.
By the end of this initial meeting, we should be able to determine if we are a good fit to work together. If so, we would like to take the next step and sign a design agreement with you.
THE TABOR DESIGN PROCESS
We find that designing a successful design-build project requires a number of meetings with all homeowners, to document your design ideas and make all the necessary selections.
At the first meeting with our designer, we will discuss your needs and the problems you may be trying to address through remodeling. Next, we will schedule an appointment with you to measure and photograph your home. We will draw your concept with various options to form preliminary designs. These preliminary design ideas are further developed and refined with your input into a workable solution. Once the design has been finalized, our designer will draft elevations and 3-D models.
Our selections coordinator will put you in touch with our showroom consultants at the professional supply houses that we use. We will assemble very specific checklists to help you select all of your fixtures and finishes. We will help you select every item that is going into your project from gutters to drawer pulls, with as much - or as little - assistance as you need. We keep you apprised of approximate costs throughout this process, to help you stay within your budget.
PRICING
We will schedule a trade-day, where we will invite all of our trade contractors (such as the plumber, electrician, and roofer) to your home to examine the space and the plans, along with your selections. They will give us a price for their part of the project. All the construction details are worked out. Doing this in advance rules out unpleasant surprises.
An extensive Construction Agreement, which lists every item in your project, is presented to you for approval. This Construction Agreement includes a price based on the design, your selections, and the prices from the trade contractors. This price is not an estimate. It is the final price. Once your Construction Agreement is signed, your project is put on our schedule.
CONSTRUCTION
Next, a pre-construction meeting is set. At this meeting you will be introduced to the lead carpenter, who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of your project. All the final details for your project are addressed, such as when certain rooms must be cleared of furniture and where materials can be stored, etc. Weekly progress meetings are scheduled to ensure your continued peace of mind throughout the project.
You will receive a schedule detailing exactly which project tasks are to be completed each day, and who you can expect at your home. Of course, the lead carpenter will be there every day to manage your project. Our trade contractors will be scheduled and will also receive a copy of the construction schedule to keep them on time. All of the selections you made during the design phase will be ordered, to be delivered as needed.
At Tabor Design Build we feel that careful planning is the key to making sure your project runs smoothly, with minimal disruption to your family. Taking all of these important steps allows us to finish your project on time and on budget.
Once we have completed the final walk-through, all you have to do is relax and enjoy your new space! Rest assured our work is covered by an extensive warranty. So, exhale and relax!
