Green Remodeling We've been remodeling green since long before it was popular. We were recycling back when it was called salvage. In remodeling, we generate a lot of waste. Wherever possible, we donate used or scrap materials to Habitat for Humanity, or others less fortunate than ourselves. Whenever feasible, we separate metals, appliances, paper goods, masonry and soil to be recycled. We use high efficiency, energy-star rated appliances and HVAC equipment. We use Low E windows and doors and super-insulate our additions beyond what is required by code. With today's high energy prices, it doesn't make sense not to do these things. High efficiency appliances are more expensive, initially. The pay back in energy savings is usually four to five years compared to standard low efficiency equipment. The extra expense can be easily recouped if you are selling your house. We go the extra mile to protect your indoor environment by using low VOC latex paints, hanging dust curtains over work areas, and frequent cleaning to keep dust down. To help keep your family safe we inspect for and hire specialists to remove lead, asbestos, and other dangerous substances.
