Deep Drilling

This week we began the well drilling process for the three geo-thermal lines necessary to heat and cool the addition and the rest of the home. Drillers arrived on Monday and began to drill 473 feet into the ground. About 60 feet deep, we hit rock, which is typical in this area. As the brownish red clay and gray rock mixture accumulated, the front of my property resembled a moonscape more than a lawn.

The equipment used to complete this process was extremely heavy-duty. The drill itself is powered by a massive truck, which makes it possible to get as deep into the ground as we need to for the HVAC system. Allied Well Drilling is performing this phase and doing a great job of making things flow smoothly.

Next week:

-Rough plumbing

-Interior framing

-Backfill

-A couple of inspections
