Schweitzer Kitchen Renovation Photos by Tabor Design Build, Inc. and Greg Hadley of Hadley Photography Kitchen and Dining Room Table - Before The mudroom needed a functional system allowing the removal of shoes and coats, with a place to collect and store the boys' things. A more durable floor was needed to handle traffic and the elements. The butler's pantry served them well and just needed to be modernized. That same modern look was needed in the kitchen, as well as some personal accessories to the cabinetry for the homeowner. The two cooking stations needed to be relocated for safety and ease of use. Additional storage was to be added in the form of large pantry cabinets on an empty wall. The old pass-thru to the sunroom would be modified to create a real breakfast bar. Kitchen Island - Before 3D Kitchen Layout New Kitchen The old kitchen had insufficient storage with a dated look. Now the cabinets have a custom feel with warm rich colors. Many features have been added to give the kitchen customized storage with a visual flair. Small drawers for spices have a place of their own with decorative glass doors above. The cabinets have been hung at different heights to take advantage of the higher ceilings and open space, while making use of additional storage opportunities. The ceramic countertops have been replaced with rich dark granite, eliminating the maintenance of the grout joints and adding a unified elegance to the rooms. By eliminating the pantry closet, the cabinets were increased and a new cooking station was created.New Kitchen To replace the pantry closet, a wall of pantry cabinets was installed in the sunroom that matched the kitchen. The butler's pantry was updated as well with new cabinets and countertops. To give the family a real breakfast bar, the kitchen pass-thru was lowered to bar stool height and a granite countertop with overhang was installed. There's plenty of room for the four boys as they grow.New Kitchen The cooktop has been moved from the island to the old oven area and a microwave was hung above. This allows for a safer work space and the more open design shows off custom accents in the tiled backsplash. New Kitchen ![]() New Kitchen The new island is now safe for the children and gives the family greater work space. The rooms were completed with the same durable porcelain tile floor from the mudroom and the backsplash has a decorative mosaic tile design. Task and accent light were added everywhere to keep the kitchen bright and functional. The new kitchen and mudroom now serve the family well while in a style they can be proud of. New Kitchen and Dining Room Table ![]() New Mud Room What was once an open space is now an organized family entrance. The mudroom has a durable porcelain tile floor in a user friendly color and a wonderful storage system. Prior to the remodel, the kitchen table and countertops would hold the family's castoffs. Now multiple wall cubbies and coat hooks allow for easy storage for a family on the go.
