Commuting from the Upper Marlboro area to Rockville everyday has conditioned me to the increased likelihood of running into a traffic nightmare. Once in the Montgomery County area, I am quite comfortable assuming I wont have many traffic delays. Boy was I wrong. Not only did I encounter a vehicle jam, but the traffic pile-up was in John’s driveway! I am aware of the many moving parts and people who go into making a project successful. Seeing the number of trucks, vans and cars in John’s driveway provided a very convincing visual of this fact.
It may be appropriate to perform a roll call in a situation like this.
Tabor Team – Present
HVAC Company – Present
Geothermal Company – Present
Electrician – Present
Plumber – Present
Solar Panel Company – Present
Chimney Company – Present
Each of these companies was on hand to complete some phase of the Tabor three-story addition project. It was a day of true collaboration and group coordination. The HVAC Company was on hand to plan the layout for the HVAC unit and complete the duct work for the house. The HVAC Company then worked with our Maryland geothermal contractor, Michael Bonsby Heating & Air Conditioning, to make sure the coolant lines they were running would lead and plug in to the HVAC units correctly. The Electrician found his way into the mix by providing the power necessary to run the HVAC/Geothermal combination. Lastly, the plumber had the important assignment of reworking the gas lines and capping them off, as gas would no longer be used in the space.
In another part of the addition, the chimney cleaning services and fire place installation company, Highs Chimney, is positioning the fire place through a window, a balancing act of major proportion and skill to say the least. While Highs Chimney is going through the window, the Solar Panel Company was on the roof. Solar panels are being installed and look extremely cool (take a look below):
With all of this going on, the weather has been absolutely fabulous. The chaos that could arise when coordinating so many aspects of the project is daunting to imagine. The crisp warmth of the air seemed to keep everyone is good spirits and things running smoothly. Spring time temperatures in February; there is not much to be unhappy about!
